Department of Environmental Services- Stormwater Update

Description

Builders, site-civil engineers, and development teams- Under new Director Myra Reece, the South Carolina Department of Environmental Services (DES) is bringing a hands-on permitting roadshow to our region to speed reviews and align on stormwater requirements. HBASC and the Home Builders Associations in the Upstate are partnering with DES so you can meet directly with the people who review your projects-and with surrounding county stormwater departments and MS4 programs, who will also be in attendance so everyone is on the same page. 

Why attend:

* Cut permit wait times: Walk through timelines, completeness checks, and pre-submittal options to prevent rework and holds. 

* Stormwater program updates (coastal focus): Groundwater constraints, SCM approvals, LID credits, as-builts/closeout, and post-construction O&M. 

* Face-to-face access: DES reviewers + neighboring county/city stormwater/MS4 staff for project-specific Q&A (bring your plan numbers). 

* Regional coordination: Clarify who handles what-DES vs. county/city MS4s and utilities across the Upstate.
